Coffee and Its Excellent Health Benefits

You don’t have to have a guilt complex when you have that morning cup of coffee! Not only does it help wake you up and give you a quick-energy boost, it actually provides you with some real health benefits, too!

According to Web MD, those who drink coffee are less likely to have Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, or dementia than are non-coffee drinkers. They also have fewer cases of some types of cancer, heart rhythm problems, and strokes. However that cup of java has not been proven to prevent those unhealthy conditions. It is possible that people who have their caffeine on a daily basis have additional healthy habits, too, such as exercising and eating healthier.

What do those coffee beans have in them that provide you with so many nutritional benefits? Nutrients such as magnesium, chromium, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, manganese, potassium and niacin are all in there to help give that cup of joe a strong antioxidant capacity.

In one very large study, it was determined that people who drink one to three cups a day, were 20 per cent less likely to be hospitalized for abnormal heart rhythms than non drinkers. Another large study, which involved over 83,000 nurses, showed that women who consumed 2 or more cups of coffee daily had a lower chance of stroke than women who drank less. In addition, coffee drinkers appear to have a lower risk of Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, and some types of cancer.

As a precaution, however, pregnant women probably should not drink very much coffee since it is unknown what effect large amounts could have. If pregnant, you should limit yourself to no more than 12 ounces, according to Web MD.

Generally, it seems to be accepted that as many as three daily cups of coffee may be good for you, but not if you have high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, or suffer from anxiety. Also, the caffeine can disrupt sleep, so it probably is preferable to not drink any several hours before bedtime.

A couple more benefits that enjoying your caffeine to start your day include, are boosting your brain power and helping to keep you slim by speeding up your metabolism.

In summary, the benefits that can be reaped from that wake-up cup or two of java far outweigh any negative side effects for most people. So now, you know that you can savor that morning beverage, be good to your body and not experience any pangs of guilt!
