Gladiators were a part of Romans’ form of entertainment about hundreds of years ago and it has been continued until today. Even dogs have been used to compete in blood sports. Dogs have been used by men for hunting, protection and have also been used during wars. Dog fight had been a practice for several countries worldwide since probably the turn of the seventeenth century.

People have tried to put a stop to it by implementing several laws to make it an illegal form of entertainment. However, it is now being practiced as a form of underground amusement. Dog fighting are separated into street fights, hobbyists and professional.

Street fights are usually conducted on alleys or even on the corner of the street. These type of dog fight does not care about any rules and does not even value their dog’s life as well.

Hobbyist fights are more concerned for their dog’s well- being and are usually engaged in interstate competitions. Hobbyist fighter are actually more managed if compared to street fighters.

Professional fighters are more focused on the dog’s bloodline when it comes to breeding. Several people raning from fifty or more usually watches this type of blood sport. They usually dispose those animals who are weak and sells those dogs who are too aggressive to people who are fond of street fighting.

These forms of dog fights exhibit a great deal of animal cruelty and have been a topic of animal welfare for a few years. Hundreds of dogs have been a victim of this blood sport and I am quite sure that there will be more. We need all the help that we can get to stop this animal cruelty. Keep your eyes open to any suspicious activities that may lead to dog fights in your area. Change the dog’s life by helping them have one. Let us help these dogs win the battle against a formidable enemy. These dogs need all the aid that they can have.
